Waste Wise: Candaping National High School's Sustainable Solid Waste Management

“Trash in its place, not a single trace. At Candaping’s pace, we embrace a waste-free space.”

One of the country's major issues is a lack of proper waste collection and treatment infrastructure, which leads to serious environmental problems. Improper waste management pollutes the world's oceans, clogs sewers, causes flooding, spreads diseases, harms animals that unknowingly consume the waste, and has a negative impact on economic development. Hazardous chemicals can leech into the soil and, from there, into food. Burning plastics and waste in landfills emits toxic substances into the air and pollutes water, resulting in dangerous methane and leachate emissions that contribute to land degradation and climate change. Because organic waste can be recycled or reused, plastic waste can be recycled as well, reducing plastic pollution.

Human activity produces waste, which may rise in response to rising standards of living. Additionally, Candaping National High School has passed a resolution or initiated an action to ensure that solid waste management is done safely and effectively for the benefit of both the community and the school. Under the direction of Mrs. Estrelieta Ladion, the Solid Waste Coordinator of the Candaping NHS, as well as the faculty and staff, its objectives are to foster public awareness, encourage active participation, and create a sustainable environment. Implementing this strategy, an action plan centered on "zero waste" is being developed by the Supreme Secondary Learner's Government (SSLG), the Youth for Environment School's Organization (YES-O), and various school club organizations to gauge the progress toward sustainable solid waste management (SWM).

In this probe, Candaping NHS's commitment to successful solid waste management is both a duty and a confirmation of our commitment to natural stewardship. We strive for a cleaner, greener future and set an inspiring example for the community at large through collaborative endeavors, inventive methodologies, and community mindfulness.
