Tarpaulins Are Good Dream-catchers

Dreams can be mysterious or meritorious part of our lives. They can be entertaining, romantic, disturbing, frightening, and sometimes bizarre. There are dreams which awaken us to our full feasibilityand there are dreams that put our existing selves to sleep.

What is the reality of life? Each of us thinks about it. One of the most beautiful presents we've been given as humans is the persistent desire to dream of a better life and the ability to set objectives to make those aspirations a reality. But with the shift to virtual teaching, students have struggled to look ahead to their future while balancing challenging classwork in a new learning format. The year-long pandemic not only affected the economy of our nation but also took a huge role in deminishing quality of education for young students. In response, it led educators to make heroic efforts to provide their students with blended learning experiences. Uncertainty is all around us, and it has never been more so than right now. While we may not wish to acknowledge it, uncertainty is an inevitable part of life. The new normal makes it hard for some people to keep their dreams. And reality creates distance between a person and their dream.

Dreams have been seen as a second reality by people. Just as how people have different personalities, they also dream differently. Some dream in black and white while others dream in spectacularly vivid colors. It represents many different areas of one's life in physical, emotional, and mental ways. Although the definition of dreams is clear, the reason behind them remains a mystery. Most people believe that their dreams hide meaningful truths and that dreams and nightmares can show us some hidden thoughts. One of the most popular theories of why people dream is Sigmund Freud's theory of wish fulfillment. Freud sees all dreams as wish fulfillment. In his book, The Interpretation of Dreams, he wrote "dreams are disguised fulfillments of repressed wishes." He believed that dreams are rooted in unconscious conflicts, memories, and desires. Natural human instinct motivates the mind to seek the unknown. This thirst for wisdom is fostered during one’s youth as one grows and develops. It is difficult for a person to not accept a reality that contradicts his dreams. Life in your dreams is like the melody that you want to hear again and again but in reality, it becomes a requiem that makes you want to go deaf.

Everyone hopes and tries so hard to find a reason for existence. Some found their peace through art, and some defend the battle of its life with words. People can say there is a balance, a logic that everything happens for a reason. Some spend their entire life trying to scratch their way to the top, while others are born into wealth without ever working at all. And yet the chaos is all so beautiful. We’ve learned a lot about ourselves, our government, and our country in this crisis. When we are young, we have no trouble imagining what we’ll be when we grow up. However, at this age, we have very little concept of time. It’s there — we measure it on our watches and calendars, and it’s apparently something we can run out of. But, as we get older, we begin to develop an understanding of what time means. It’s a linear equation with no reversal. The heart becomes like an old ruin. You feel as if time has brought you into the scorching heat of the desert.

The gist of all this is that life is not always the same. It is okay to find comfort in our dreams as we sleep, what is not okay is believing it could give you a comfortable life forever. You can't just wait until the process isn't hard anymore before you decide to work on your dreams for the future. No matter how faint our hopes are, we are capable enough to create the dream catchers that depict our fortitude rather than just a belief.
